Day 8 - November 7 - Luke 8

Luke 8

Along the lines of Elaine's sharing on Luke 8, I want to pass the challenge to you.
It says those who hold on to the Word will bear fruit if they endure.
What does it mean to hold on to the Word?
Why is enduring important and what does it mean to endure?
Are you holding on to the Word and enduring?
Pray for strength to endure and stay the course, being faithful to listen and follow God in everything.

Hey guys,

Something stood out a long time ago when i read this..

v3 = These women were helping to support them out of their own means.

This is a huge implication. In the Graeco Roman times, woman do not play a dominate role. Especially not in a religious setting. I suspect Luke put it down to make a point. That Jesus ministry is that radical!

Hold on to the Word? The Word that I can rely on is the Scripture (Bible). To hold on to it is to fall in love with it.

As a triathlete, I know my training numbers (heart rate) in and out. I can tell you every number at which zones I should be at.

Can I do the same with the Bible (Word)? If I cannot, what do i say about myself as a Christian?

Holding on to the Word is like exercising. Working out is literraly tearing the muscle apart. That's why we get sore. And the more we practice, the better we get and the stronger we become.

This is the same with studying the Word. With my busy schedule, it is always easy to put it on the low end. It takes discipline (like going to the gym) to steady at seeking His Will through the Word.

Though the joy of loving the Word, holding on to it and enduring it is far greater than a good workout.
